The final Group 2 match of the Super 12 stage will take place between India and Zimbabwe on November 6 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. India should advance to the semifinals with a victory. Although it appears to be a walk in the park, Zimbabwe cannot be underestimated, given some of the major upsets that have occurred in this World Cup.

Zimbabwe has not yet completely exited the semifinal stage. For the African nation to advance to the next round, events must take an unexpected turn on the final day of the Super 12 stage. India will be attempting to advance to the semifinals of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 when they face Zimbabwe on November 6. With 6 points from 4 games and a net run rate of +0.730, India is currently leading Group 2.

A victory advances the team to the semifinals. If India loses, Pakistan has a chance to advance to the next stage of the tournament if they defeat Bangladesh at the Adelaide Oval. If India loses to Zimbabwe and Pakistan triumphs over Bangladesh, both countries would have six points. The net run rate then comes into play when two teams have the same number of points.

Indian players back in form

Aside from the qualification scenarios, India is in good form heading into the final group game. The T20 World Cup has seen spectacular innings from Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav and  KL Rahul. Suryakumar, who has two half-centuries, is second behind Kohli, who has three half-centuries. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, the opening pair, have each scored a half-century.

Even bowling seems to be in good condition. Every Indian bowler who has bowled in this tournament has taken at least two wickets. Arshdeep Singh, a young left-arm pacer, is having a breakout tournament after taking nine wickets—the most for India down under.

Zimbabwe, unlike India, has up until this point been a one-man show. With his efforts on the field and in the batter’s box, Sikandar Raza gave Zimbabwe hope for this World Cup. The all-rounder has taken 9 wickets and scored 185 runs. Zimbabwe’s captain, Craig Ervine, will expect more from his teammates as the team looks to finish the tournament on a high note and, with luck, achieve the extraordinary as well!
