The T20 World Cup in Australia is heating up. The India
versus Pakistan game last Sunday (October 23) has already become one of the
highlights of the tournament. The other highlight being Ireland’s superb win
against England in one of the biggest upsets of T20 World Cup history. The
Indian team has decided that it will not take any chances in the game against
Netherlands. No key players will be rested, according to Paras Mhambrey, Team
India bowling coach.

Why is Team India not resting key players?

The Indian team management believes it is important for key
players to get more time in the field ahead of crucial games against South
Africa and Bangladesh. Team India has had a hectic week moving across time
zones every few days. If the team makes it to the semis, these hours spend in
the middle will come in handy, the team management believes.

“We are not going to rest anyone. When you have the momentum
going in a tournament, you need individuals to be in form. Some haven’t got an
opportunity to bat, so every game becomes important. We won’t be looking at
resting anybody,” Mhambrey said.

This is the first time India and Netherlands will go
head-to-head in a T20 International. Netherlands have played 19 matches in T20
World Cups so far winning 7 and losing 11 matches.

The weight on Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya is one of those players who bears a huge
weight in T20I matches as an allrounder. Asked if at least Pandya will be
rested against Netherlands because he was seen cramping up in the match against
Pakistan, Mhambrey said Hardik wants to play all the matches.

“He’s all right. Hardik wants to play all the games. There
is no such thought about any particular player. Hardik is a very important
player for us. He adds a lot of balance. His attitude on the field is
important. Rest is not even a discussion.”
