Thibaut Courtois, the Belgian goalkeeper and Real Madrid’s last line of defense, has won the 2022 Yashine Trophy. It was his valiant efforts at the goal that saw Real Madrid take home their 14th European title last season. Courtois was even declared the Man of The Match of the final between Real Madrid and Liverpool, which Los Blancos won with a scoreline of 1-0.

The 30-year-old shot-stopper is currently out due to injury and was not able to be a part of the Los Blancos side that defeated Barcelona with a scoreline of 3-1 last weekend.

Courtois has posted a video on Twitter to celebrate his win. Check it out right here:

After joining Real Madrid from Chelsea in the 2018-19 season, Courtois had some difficulty settling in. He was also subject to a lot of ridicule by a section of Chelsea fans who regarded him not showing up to training to force his move to the Spanish capital as being a betrayal. Before his stint with the London side, Courtois had played for three seasons for Los Blancos’ city rivals, Atletico Madrid.
