After kicking off with the opening ceremony on July 23, the Tokyo Olympics has bloomed in its full glory even amidst a raging pandemic. Still, in the early phases of the competition, a long list of athletes will be representing the United States on July 25 in at least a dozen sports including shooting, fencing, softball, fencing, and swimming.

Although team USA had an underwhelming Day 2, they came back on the third day to conquer four golds, two silvers and four bronze medals to pump up their overall tally to 10.

The first members from the United States delegation to take part in Day 4 will be Kevin McDowell and Morgan Pearson for the men’s individual triathlon.

Meanwhile, Amber English and Austen Jewell Smith take part in the qualifiers of women’s skeet shooting. In men’s skeet shooting, Vincent Hancock and Phillip Russell Jungman will take part in the second day of qualifiers hoping to make it through to the finals.

The US men’s archery team will take on France in the Round of 16.

In the opening round of softball, Team USA will take on the hosts, while in volleyball they will take on Russia. 

Coming to fencing, Anne-Elizabeth Stone, Mariel Zagunis, Gerek Meinhardt and Wozniak Dagmara will represent the US in several individual events in both sabre and foil categories.

Americans will be stacking their hopes in Farrah Hall in the women’s windsurfer event, meanwhile, Charlie Buckingham will carry the hopes for the men’s team in sailing.

Christopher Blevins will be participating in the men’s cross-country cycling.

Medal hopes will yet again be high when the men’s team will compete in the artistic gymnastic finals.

In swimming, Team USA delivered an inspired performance on Sunday and they can continue the same on Monday when Torri Huske competes in the women’s 100m butterfly final and Paige Madden, Kathleen Ledecky will compete in the 400m freestyle final.

In 3×3 basketball, the United States women’s team will compete against the Italian team.
