After kicking off with the opening ceremony on July 23, the Tokyo Olympics has bloomed in its full glory even amidst a raging pandemic. Come July 29, a long list of athletes will be representing the United States in many sports, including shooting, swimming, gymnastic, golf, and boxing.
Even after some dull showings in the early phases, Team USA have extended their overall medal tally to 31, however, are trailing behind Japan and China when it comes to gold medals. The American swimming delegation has been incredibly dominant like always.
But tomorrow, Day 7 will start with US golfers — Xander Schauffele, Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa and Patrick Reed — taking the course early on. While Team USA finished with a bronze in Rio 2016 in men’s individual stroke play, they’ll be hoping to better their record this time around.
Meanwhile, Sandra Uptagrafft and Alexis Lagan will represent the USA in women’s 25m pistol shooting and Kayle Browning and Ann Madelynn Bernau will compete in women’s trap shooting.
In fencing, the women’s team will compete in the quarter-finals of the foil event against Japan.

In artistic gymnastics, Sunisa Lee and Jade Carey are competing in the women’s all-around final.
A major chunk of the American medals have come from swimming and they will be hoping to continue their domination further. While Robert Finke will be representing the US team in the men’s 800-metre freestyle final, Nic Fink will compete at the men’s 200m breaststroke final and Dressel Caeleb will be carrying Team USA’s medal hopes in men’s 100m freestyle final.
The women’s team will also be competing in the 4×200 metre relay finale.
