WWE, on Wednesday, announced that they have come to terms with the releases of their top superstars, who were with the company for some years now. The superstars who were released are Braun Strowman, Aleister Black, Lana, Ruby Riott, Buddy Murphy and Santana Garrett.

According to media reports, the releases were made due to budget cuts.

Strowman was with the company since 2013 and his last match was at the WrestleMania Backlash pay-per-view in the Triple Threat with Drew McIntyre and WWE Champion Bobby Lashley.

Lana also had been with the company since 2013. Initially, she used to accompany the ‘Russian brute’ Rusev but then slowly started participating in the matches.

Black signed with WWE in 2016. Mostly appeared on SmackDown, it was reported that his creative decision was one of the reasons why he had problems with the company.

He leaves the company as a one-time WWE NXT Champion, and the 2019 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic winner with Ricochet. His wife Zelina Vega was released in late 2020.

Riott also signed with WWE in 2016, competed in her last match at Friday’s SmackDown. She teamed up with Liv Morgan for a loss to WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Natalya and Tamina Snuka.

Murphy exits the company as a one-time NXT Tag Team Champion and a one-time RAW Tag Team Champion.
