“I’m sure people are expecting a show so I am expecting to bring fireworks on Saturday,” Yair Rodriguez said, referring to the UFC Vegas 42 clash. The Mexican will face 2017 UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway.

Holloway, early in 2021, secured a dominant win against Calvin Kattar on “Fight Island”after suffering consecutive defeats against current division champion Alexander Volkanovski last year. Known as the ‘Blessed’, his performance showed that he is is more than capable of becoming champion again. However, Yair Rodriguez, who is aiming for the title himself, would not be easy to tackle.

“Yeah, I think it’s going to be a great fight. With that said, I know we had pretty good fights last weekend and I’m sure people are expecting a show so I am expecting to bring fireworks on Saturday and I am sure it’s going to be a great fight for everybody to watch from home and everybody will enjoy it, I am sure… No I think it can happen [our fight could top Chandler vs Gaethje] I see it happening, yeah,” Rodriguez said, ahead of the game.

Rodriguez, who has not competed since October 2019, is unbeaten in his last three fights.

The game was originally scheduled for July, but Holloway pulled out because of an undisclosed injury.

Rodriguez went on to claim that he is ready to lay it all out inside the octagon to try and defeat one of the greatest featherweights of all time.

“Max is all that’s in my head right now and if the title comes after [beating Holloway] then that’s a good thing and I’ll take it. If not, then no problem. I’ll keep on fighting, keep on doing my thing and then probably just get a next whenever I can but I won’t give up, it doesn’t matter where this fight goes, I don’t care. I’m ready to die and I’m ready to take that gold as well, so whatever life wants to throw at me, I’ll be ready,” Yair Rodriguez.
