As both the teams battled it out during the FIFA World Cup 2022 Group C match on Saturday, November 26, neither Mexico nor Argentina could manage to get the ball into the net, resulting in a 0-0 in the first half of the game.

The energy in the stadium, which is packed with Argentine as well as Mexican fans alike, seemed to shift as Argentina fans fell silent and Mexico fans seemed to make the maximum amount of noise.

Argentina fans were already left disappointed on November 23, when their side, which is ranked the world’s No. 3 was defeated by Saudi Arabia, which ranks No. 51 in the world.

The Saudi Arabia shocker followed by Mexico and Poland sharing points and Poland beating Saudi Arabia has put the two-time winners in a do-or-die spot.

Argentina has brought Guido Rodriguez and Alexis Mac Allister into midfield and Marcos Acuna, Gonzalo Montiel and Lisandro Martinez into defense. However, their strike force remains the same with Lionel Messi, Angel Di Maria and Lautaro Martinez.

During the first half, the Mexican players were seen sometimes going overboard with their challenges on Messi’s team. Arm contact with Messi did not attract the referee’s attention. Also, a raised foot that touched defender Lisandro Martinez’s face failed to result in a yellow card.
