Lionel Messi’s dream FIFA World Cup 2022 run continued. The Argentina captain helped his team beat Croatia 3-0 in the semi-finals and now will play the final of what is most likely his last World Cup.

Just as the final whistle went off in the match, a tired but elated Lionel Messi looked up smiling. He will now have a shot at the only trophy that is missing from his cabinet – the FIFA World Cup.

Messi put up a brilliant show for Argentina in the match helping his team get an early lead with a penalty in the 34th minute. He then produced a brilliant run against Croat defender Guvardiol to make an assist for Julian Alvarez. It resulted in Argentina’s third goal at the 69th minute.

The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner came close to winning the World Cup in 2014 when they reached the final – the first ever in his illustrious football career. However, he had to go home as the runner’s up after Mario Goetze scored the only goal in the match helping Germany clinch the title from his hand.

Eight years later, he will be playing the FIFA World Cup final again and fans everywhere will hope that this time he will not return empty-handed from football’s biggest stage. 

Argentina will face either Morocco or France in the FIFA World Cup final on Sunday, December 18.
