He is yet to be dismissed this season
Karthik played a 44-run hand in 23 balls to help RCB defeat the Rajasthan Royals
Dinesh Karthik, who has been in some form in IPL 2022 so far, named his choice for India's finisher. The 36-year-old has scored 90 runs in three matches this season at a whopping strike rate of 204. 54 and helped Faf du Plessis and co win two of their three games.
Against the Rajasthan Royals, the former Kolkata Knight Riders skipper played a 44-run hand in 23 balls with the help of seven boundaries and one six. Against KKR he had scored 14 runs in seven delivers and made a 14-ball 32 versus Punjab Kings. DK is yet to be dismissed this season.
On Thursday, in a conversation with Sanjana Ganesan, when Dinesh Karthik was asked Who is best suited to be India's finisher amongst the current set of players, the wicketkeeper batsman did not take any time to take his own name.
"First I'll like to put my name," Karthik said.
Karthik, after guiding the Royal Challengers Bangalore to a win against the Royals, spoke about his mindset this season.
"I made a conscious effort to do justice to myself. Felt I could have done better in the last few years," Karthik said after being named the player of the match.
"The way I have trained has been different. I was telling myself I am not done yet. I have a goal and I want to achieve something," he added at the post-match presentation ceremony.
When he came in, RCB needed 12 runs per over and Karthik launched into his statemate Ashwin with one boundary behind square, followed by six over long-on and a rocket-like-shot over mid-off and finally added insult to injury with a reverse sweep.
"We needed 12 runs an over, so you need to figure out what to do. Stay calm, know your game and who you can take on."
DK will be seen in action when RCB takes on the Mumbai Indians on Saturday.
