Jones was a member of the Syracuse football team from 2008 to 2011. He played in 12 games as a sophomore after not playing as a freshman in 2008 and had a total of 52 tackles and 1.5 sacks. He recorded 57 total tackles, four sacks, four passes blocked, and three caused fumbles as a junior in 2010.
