He redshirted his first year in 2017- not taking part in any outside competitions, but played all 14 games the following season in 2018 as a backup, with 6 tackles to his name. He persevered, however, and in 2019 he became a starter, and in the 14 games he played, he made 91 tackles, 6.5 sacks, and one interception that ended with a touchdown at the other end. 2020 saw Lloyd play just 5 games where he made 48 tackles and 2 sacs, but in 2021 in his senior year, when he was expected to enter the NFL Draft, he instead returned to Utah. Lloyd is considered highly productive and physical, his aggression particularly seen as a strength as is his versatility in being able to play multiple linebacker positions. If he can iron out some of the inconsistencies in his performances and clunky lower body dynamics, the consensus is that he could develop into a solid starter as an inside or strong-side linebacker, particularly if he can unearth some more violence in his game downhill.
