Eddie Faulkner, currently serving as the running backs coach, has been named the interim offensive coordinator, according to NFL reporter Aditi Kinkhabwala.

The decision to relieve Canada of his duties was confirmed by Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, who expressed appreciation for Canada’s dedication and hard work while extending best wishes for his future endeavors.

With Faulkner stepping into the interim role, the Steelers are expected to split offensive game planning responsibilities, with quarterback coach Mike Sullivan taking on the play-calling duties, as reported by CBS NFL Insider Josina Anderson.

Under Canada’s tenure as offensive coordinator, the Steelers faced challenges in offensive production, failing to surpass 400 yards of offense in a game during his three-season stint. The team struggled, enduring a 58-game streak without reaching 400-plus total yards—a mark that stands as the second-longest in NFL history.

Despite offensive struggles, the Steelers maintain a 6-4 record, with notable statistical challenges. Quarterback Kenny Pickett holds the lowest pass touchdown rate (1.9%) among quarterbacks with 500-plus attempts since 1970. The team averages 16.6 points per game, ranking 28th in the NFL, and registers just 0.7 pass touchdowns per game, placing 31st in the league.

Canada’s tenure was marked by the Steelers ranking 29th in points per possession and 30th in yards per possession. Over the three seasons, they were 28th in total yards and 28th in points scored.
