Del Rio played as a linebacker in the NFL for over a decade. He was a standout at the University of Southern California before being selected by the New Orleans Saints in the third round of the 1985 NFL Draft. Throughout his playing career, Del Rio also played for the Kansas City Chiefs, Dallas Cowboys, Minnesota Vikings, and Miami Dolphins.
After retiring as a player, Jack Del Rio transitioned to coaching. He held various coaching positions in the NFL, and in 2003, he became the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, a position he held until 2011.
