Jack Morris, who used to formerly play for the Detroit Tigers in Major League Baseball, served as the sportscaster for the team.

Morris, who has previously been inducted into the league’s hall of fame, has played 527 games in his career, where he most shined as a right-handed pitcher.

Morris was born in Minnesota‘s St. Paul on May 16, 1955 and made his career debut in Major League Baseball in 1977 with the Detroit Tigers after being drafted by the team in the fifth round of the June 1976 MLB draft.

Morris, a graduate from Utah’s Brigham Young University is known to sport the jersey number 47 on the field. Morris retained the jersey number throughout his career while playing with teams like the Detroit Tigers, Minnesota Twins, Cleaveland Indians and Toronto Blue Jays.

Playing his last game in August 1994, Morris has so far garnered multiple prestigious accolades in Major League Baseball. These honours include World Series Most Valuable Player, five-time All-Star, three time winner of World Championship series and securing a position in the Baseball Hall of Fame, where he was inducted in 2018.

However, Morris has previously been part of controversy by making statements that have attracted condemnation from his fans. During his playing days, Morris told a young female reporter that he “only talks to women when I’m naked if they are on top of me or I’m on top of them, according to reports from Associated Press.

In recent news, Morris has been suspended indefinitely for a racist gesture aimed at Los Angeles Angels star Shohei Ohtani during Tuesday’s Major League Baseball game.

Asked by play-by-play announcer Matt Shepard about how the Tigers should pitch to Ohtani in the sixth inning, Morris adopted an exaggerated East Asian accent while saying “be very, very careful”, according to reports from Associated Press.
