Cotton brings a wealth of experience, including coaching stints at various universities and a successful playing career at Alabama State.

Who is Kynjee Cotton?

Kynjee Cotton, who spent the 2022 season at Kennesaw State, has previously held coaching positions at Samford and West Georgia. Additionally, he has served as a quality control coach at North Carolina, a defensive line coach at Birmingham Southern, and a graduate assistant at UAB.

His diverse background also includes a strength and conditioning intern role at Alabama, where he worked with multiple sports programs.

During his college years at Alabama State, Cotton excelled as a defensive lineman, earning all-conference honors and captaining the team in 2011. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and was recognized for his academic achievements as a member of the Dean’s List.

The hiring of Cotton comes as LSU seeks to fill the role previously occupied by Gerald Chatman, who transitioned from an analyst position to interim defensive line coach. Chatman eventually secured the defensive line coach position at Tulane.

By bringing in Cotton, LSU is tapping into the talent from the FCS ranks, highlighting the program’s commitment to adding skilled coaches to enhance its coaching staff.
