They found the 16-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the foot after being shot 10 to 11 times. The victim was Mixon’s neighbor who was also playing “nerf wars” with his friends when gunfire was heard.

Officers stopped a vehicle which was then leaving the scene and spotted Shalonda and Lamonte inside. They also traced a firearm in the trunk of the vehicle which later was identified as the one used in the shooting.

The investigators secured a search warrant which provided them with footage from Mixon’s home which showed Brewer and Joe Mixon in Mixon’s backyard when Brewer fired multiple shots at the teenager. Shalonda Mixon was seen collecting shell casings from the yard before fleeing in her vehicle.

Joe Mixon was seen carrying a firearm when the shooting occurred but did not fire any shots, the Hamilton County prosecutor stated.
