Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) fast bowler Mohsin Khan grabbed eyeballs for his brilliant bowling figures of 4/16 against Delhi Capitals in the 45th match of the 2022 Indian Premier League in Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.
Mohsin Khan got breakthroughs exactly when things seemed to spiral out of control for Lucknow. His victims included all the big names like David Warner, Rishabh Pant, Rowman Powell, and Shardul Thakur. He was also awarded the ‘Player of the Match’ for his performance.
Who is Mohsin Khan?
Mohsin Khan, who hails from Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal district, made his IPL debut in the 15th season in Lucknow’s opening match against Gujarat Titans when he was hit for 18 runs in two overs. After waiting for close to a month, the 23-year-old got his second opportunity as the team took on Mumbai Indians. He conceded just 27 runs and took the wicket of Dewald Brevis.
Mohsin Khan was first picked up by Mumbai Indians in the year 2018 and was reacquired two years later at his base price of Rs 20 Lakh. However, he never played a match for Mumbai. In the 2022 mega auctions, LSG got him for his base price of Rs 20 lakh.
“Since the time I joined the team, the atmosphere has been really great. Everyone has been supporting me well whenever I came in to bowl. They were saying that the way you are bowling, you have to continue with it, which gave me confidence. I was in Mumbai (Indians) for three years but didn’t get a chance. But when I came here, they put their trust in me and I have been backing myself as well,” Mohsin said after the match against Mumbai.
At the domestic level, Mohsin plays for Uttar Pradesh. He made his First-Class debut this year against Madhya Pradesh, picking up two wickets for 68 runs in the game.
