Angelo John Poffo was the father of Lanny Poffo, a former WWE wrestling star who died, per his friend wrestler “Hackshaw” Jim Duggan. The cause behind Poffo’s death is as yet unknown. Poffo was 68 years old.

According to information available in the public domain, Poffo is survived by his brother Randall Poffo, better known by the wrestling stage name “Macho Man” Randy Savage. He also has a daughter, Magen Poffo.

Who was Angelo John Poffo?

Angelo John Poffo was born on April 10, 1925, in Downers Grove, Illinois, to Italian immigrant parents.

After attending DePaul University, he enlisted to serve in the US Navy during World War II. According to a profile of the wrestler by Greg Oliver, in 1945, Poffo set a world record for situps after completing 6,033 in only 250 minutes.
