While Rhys Hoskins homered twice and drove in five runs to help the Phillies post their 10,000th win in franchise history, 11-4 vs the Reds, Marsh’s absence is likely to sting.
Nick Maton, listed as an infielder, replaced Marsh with the only other outfielder on the roster, Kyle Schwarber out with a strained right calf. He is expected to return on Friday.

Marsh is placed on a 10-day injured list. “We are a little thin,” Dave Dombrowski, Phillies president of baseball operations said Wednesday morning.

“We can look at some things internally, but you can also look at things externally. We just got hit all at one time on this.” Doctors have said that Marsh’s injury might be a a bone bruise.
However, this leaves the MLB team with limited outfield options:
1) Kyle Schwarber: The 29-year-old, who suffered a mild calf strain earlier this month, is likely to return to the lineup on Friday against the New York Mets.

2) Bryce Harper: The right fielder and designated hitter could join the Phillies in September. He suffered a UCL tear in his right elbow.
3) Triple-A Lehigh Valley utility players Yairo Muñoz and Johan Camargo and Double-A Reading outfielder Jhailyn Ortiz are the only other options for Philadelphia.
However, the team might look to add Johan Rojas to their 40-man roster.
“Really when you get to the point where you’re scrambling, which we would be if we lose Marsh – and Schwarber and Muzziotti within a few days – you explore all options, which is what we’re doing just in case. I’m still hopeful that he may not have to go on the IL, but we’ll just wait and see,”Dombrowski said.
