Skipper Rohit Sharma, on the eve of the three-match T20I series against the West Indies, said that the ultimate goal is building a team for the upcoming T20 World Cup. The Men in Blue play the first game at the Eden Garden, Kolkata on Wednesday.

The likes of Ishan Kishan, Deepak Chahar and Shreyas Iyer bagged big bucks in the IPL 2022 mega-auction this week. The three will be in the spotlight as they try to justify their price tags in the three games. Rohit Sharma, however, said that the auctions or even their performance in the league will not determine a spot in the national team. Virat Kohli, who had a quiet ODI series, will also be amongst the key players in the T20Is.
India come to the T20I series after clean sweeping the Windies in the ODIs. Rohit Sharma and co won 3-0.

West Indies, on the other hand, will be hoping to see their regular skipper Kieron Pollard return. The Mumbai Indians player missed two ODIs with a niggle.
Boasting of T20 specialists, the Windies came to India after beating England 3-2 at home in a thrilling five-match series. They bat deep and with some aggressive hitters, the West Indies will hope to give India a tough fight.

Jason Holder has been in fine form for them and took four wickets in four balls in the final ODI against England to return with career-best figures of 5/27.
With some exciting all-round options in Odean Smith and Akeal Hosein, Pollard’s men would look to make it count at a venue where they won the T20 World Cup in 2016.
