The United States Men’s National Team had to fight pretty hard for their first win in three games at the World Cup qualifiers.

The US played Honduras in a cracking contest, beating the Central American nation 4-1.

Honduras scored the first goal in the 27th minute with Brayan Moya giving them the lead.

No goals from the USMNT going into half-time meant they had to come out much stronger in the second half, and so they did.

Antonee Robinson netted the US’ first response in the 48th minute, followed by Ricardo Pepi in the 75th and Brendon Aaronson in the 86th minute.

The last goal came pretty late in the game, during stoppage time, courtesy of Sebastian Lletget.

Ricardo Pepi and Brendon Aaronson looked in exceptional form for the side, making them the key talking points of the clash against Honduras.

The USMNT’s World Cup qualification had taken off to a rocky start after their first two games ended in draws, with the latest one against Canada, 1-1.

Questions had been rising against the internationally 10th ranked team as to why the side was struggling to score more goals in the 180 minutes they played against two teams ranked 59th and 64th in the world.

However, the latest win against Honduras will act as a breather for the team.

Aaranson Brenden called it a “big result” for the boys in his post-game reaction.

“Hey guys, big result today. I am tired as you can see but it’s a great win and great fight from the boys to come back. Just shows the team spirit. Thanks for all the support and on to the next,” Brenden said.

Meanwhile, Ricardo Pepi was selected as today’s Insiders Man of the Match.

The USMNT will play Jamaica next.
