With the launch of new hi-tech android phones having high-end features, powerful hardware, fast processor and the ability to run multiple applications, battery life often takes a hit.

Here are 5 tips to prolong the life of your smartphone battery:

Clear the background applications

While using phones, you jump from one application to another multiple times, leaving many of them open. These apps remain open in the background.

You can restrict any app from accessing the battery in the background. Go to the Apps & Notifications menu in Settings and open the specific apps’ page. If you Force Stop any app from here, it will close that app instantly.

Turn off Google Assistant

Google Assistant helps the user in daily activities from calling your family to texting your colleague. Even though not everybody uses this feature regularly, it still remains active, eating up your battery. If you aren’t handy with Google Assistant or not using it that much, switch it off to prevent it from consuming your battery.

To do this, you’ll have to go to Google app and click on the More tab. Go to the Settings menu and select the Google Assistant option. Enter the Settings menu here, and then tap on your phone’s name at the bottom list and turn off the Google Assistant option.

Turn on battery saver

Sounds clichéd right? But it is one of the best ways to save the battery. No great hack, just go to the Settings of your phone, enter the battery notifications menu and you will find an option to turn on the Battery Saver. These options help save the battery by automatically controlling functions of your phone which run unnecessarily.

Choose simple wallpapers and minimum widgets

Live wallpapers might be a treat for your eyes, but they drain a lot of energy from the phone’s battery. Choosing vibrant colors as your wallpaper picture display also consume battery life.

Widgets might make your daily life easy and fast, on the other hand, take a lot of the battery of your phone.

Thus, choosing a simple wallpaper and fewer widgets can go a long way in saving your battery.

Put your phone on silent

This is one of the easiest ways to save some battery.

While sound and vibration constantly notifies you of calls and notifications, the constant buzzing of phone notifications from several apps also drain power from the phone’s battery.

You can easily put your phone on silent by eliminating sound and vibration of notifications by going to Sounds and Vibrations in the Settings menu.
