Elon Musk’s Tesla
Inc announced on Sunday that the US-based electric car company will roll back
its latest version of the Full Self-Driving (FSD) beta software. The
announcement to roll back the software comes only a day after its release following
complaints of users of false collision warnings and other issues.
Tesla CEO Elon
Musk tweeted on Sunday: “Seeing some
issues with 10.3, so rolling back to 10.2 temporarily. Please note, this is to
be expected with beta software. It is impossible to test all hardware configs
in all conditions with internal QA, hence public beta.”
The car manufacturer’s
recent troubles come even as Tesla is under regulatory scrutiny of the safety
of its semi-autonomous driving technology, called FSD.
Announcing the decision
to roll back, Musk said, “Please note, this is to be expected with beta
software. It is impossible to test all hardware configs in all conditions with
internal QA (quality assurance), hence public beta.”
The most recent release
of the new driving assist system to owners of some Tesla models, which
according to the company has undergone several improvements, had been announced
on Friday. On Saturday, Elon Musk said the release would probably be delayed by
a day.

“Regression in some
left turns at traffic lights found by internal QA in 10.3. Fix in work,
probably releasing tomorrow,” Musk tweeted Saturday.
The issue with Tesla’s
latest 10.3 software was that it provided ‘forward collision warnings’ even
when there was no immediate danger, according to video postings of beta users.
Some users also automatically applied brakes without reason, users said on
social media, Reuters reported.
The next date of release
is yet to be announced.
Only a few months ago,
in August, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA),
opened a formal safety probe into Tesla’s Autopilot system in 765,000 US vehicles
after a series of crashes were reported involving Tesla models and emergency
vehicles.
