Twitter’s new owner Elon Musk has chosen Sriram Krishan to help him overhaul the social media platform.

After months of back and forth, Musk finally closed the acquisition deal on October 27, paying the asking price of $44 billion. Almost immediately the tech billionaire fired CEO Parag Agarwal, CFO Ned Segal, Head of Policy, Legal and Trust Vijaya Gadde and General Counsel Sean Edgett. Musk also dissolved the company’s board of directors, appointed himself the CEO according to SEC filings.

He also changed his Twitter bio to Chief Twit. Most recently he has changed it to Twitter Complaint Hotline Operator. In an SEC filing, Musk has identified himself as CEO and has dissolved the Twitter board of directors.

Who is Sriram Krishnan?

Sriram Krishnan is an American investor and a partner at the venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz. He moved to the United States at the age of 21 in 2005, and comes from a family of “typical middle-class Indian upbringings” according to a New York Times article.

Krishnan is originally from Chennai and graduated from the SRM Engineering College at Anna University.

He began his career with Microsoft at the Windows Azure division before moving on to Facebook up until 2016. Krishnan then moved to help with advertising efforts at Snapchat’s parent company, Snap Inc. He quit the company a year later only to join Twitter as their senior director of product in 2017.

After two years at Twitter, he left to join Andreessen Horowitz, a venture capital fund, as a general partner. The fund was also an investor in Musk’s buyout of Twitter.

Given that he already has prior history with Twitter, Krishnan was likely brought on board because of his consumer product expertise. While it is unclear what exactly the tech investor will be doing at Twitter, experts speculate that there is a likelihood that he might be looking to introduce cryptocurrency to Twitter.
