A Boeing 737 cargo plane with two pilots on board made an emergency landing in the ocean off Honolulu. Both the pilots were rescued, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said, as per CNBC reports.

The cargo plane had to make a landing after experiencing some trouble in the engine. Any information on the severity of the crash is unclear, the CNBC report said.

“The pilots had reported engine trouble and were attempting to return to Honolulu when they were forced to land the aircraft in the water. According to preliminary information, the US Coast Guard rescued both crew members. The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate,” the FAA said, according to CNBC.

Initial reports suggested that the plane was a Boeing 737 MAX. The plane model was cleared to fly by regulators after a 20-month grounding. In 2019, two Boeing 737 MAX crashes killed 346 people. However, it was later reported by CNBC that the aircraft was not a 737 MAX.

The FAA told CNBC that the Transair Flight 810 made the emergency landing around 2:30 PM local time on Friday.
