A 6-year-old girl tragically lost her life after being accidentally struck by a boat’s propeller in Lake Pleasant, Arizona. According to officials, the incident occurred during a boat outing with two families, comprising a total of 12 individuals.
Witnesses at the scene reported that the young girl’s mother was operating the boat, seemingly unaware that her daughter had entered the water. As she started driving the vessel to pull her husband on a wakeboard, the unthinkable happened. Tragically, the child had swum in front of the boat at precisely the wrong moment, resulting in the horrific accident.
The father, who was in the water holding onto the wakeboard, noticed something amiss and swam over to investigate. To his sheer devastation, he discovered that it was his own daughter who had been struck by the boat’s propeller, resulting in the amputation of her leg.
Quickly taking action, the family transported the injured girl to the lake marina, where Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) deputies and fire personnel rushed to render aid. Despite their best efforts, the child’s injuries were severe, and she was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital. Tragically, she was pronounced deceased at the medical facility, leaving the entire community in shock and mourning.
While the incident remains under investigation, the MCSO has stated that impairment does not appear to be a factor in this heart-wrenching tragedy. It has been confirmed that all 12 occupants on the boat were wearing life vests, and the adults aboard were experienced boaters.
