Playback singer Palak
Muchhal recently announced that she will start her ‘dream’ project of
building a hospital for the needy in her hometown of Indore. The announcement
of her new hospital comes when the country is in the grips of a deadly second wave of COVID-19.
The 29-year-old also said that one of her priorities would be to provide
medical oxygen to patients.

India’s healthcare
infrastructure has been crippled with the explosion in COVID-19 cases, causing
an scarcity of oxygen at hospitals across the country.

Muchhal says
she is taking notes from the current situation and will make sure that the
hospital provides a substantial amount of oxygen cylinders and other essential
pieces of equipment needed within no time. She has arranged a team of experts
to know the needs and provide them accordingly. “It’s shameful that we don’t
have a basic thing like oxygen in hospitals,” Muchhal says.

The hospital will treat those people who can’t afford surgical procedures or medical therapy for free. Currently, the
construction of the hospital is in the primary stages, with further plans under discussion.

With her social media
reach, she is trying to help people by posting stories and leads of various
organisations. She has also started receiving calls from people for help. She
is trying her best to arrange beds, oxygen for the people in need as soon as
possible. She also confessed that the whole experience has been heartbreaking
for her.

Her name was also added to the Guinness Book of World Records and
Limca Book of World Records for her social work. The “Palak Muchhal Heart
Foundation” has financially assisted over 200 children undergoing heart
surgery. Many celebrities have come forward to help those in need and provide
assistance in such a deadly situation.
