An FIR has been lodged against Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and around 200 party workers under sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Epidemic Diseases Act, reported PTI quoting Gautam Buddh Nagar police.

The two leaders were detained while they were on their way to meet the family of the 19-year-old Dalit woman, who died on Tuesday after alleged torture and gang rape. The Uttar Pradesh police had barricaded the roads to Hathras citing coronavirus.

Earlier in the day, around 200 Congress workers, including senior leaders of the party, had started a march on the expressways in Greater Noida after their convoy was stopped near Pari Chowk. The two Gandhi siblings and around 150 party workers were briefly detained by the police and later released on personal bond, a senior officer told PTI.
