India’s largest insurer Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) is all set to hit the primary market next month. Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) secretary Tuhin Kanta Pandey in a conference on Wednesday said despite the reduced size of Rs 21,000 crore, the LIC IPO will initially be the biggest ever IPO in the country. ,This is right-sized considering the capital market environment and will not crowd out capital and monetary supply, given the current environmental constraints, Pandey said. ,We want LIC as the long term value creator in the equity market, he added. The government wants to make LIC a long-term value creator in the equity market. The share of surplus for participating will move from 5% to 10%, Pandey said. Russia has been suspended from the International Settlements (BIS) as a result of Western sanctions, the central bank umbrella group said on Thursday.
