A man was killed in St. Paul on Wednesday night, August 31, 2022, after being shot. The police found the victim near the Rice Street and Manitoba Avenue area and an investigation into the incident has begun.

According to the authorities, police officers received corroborating reports of shots being fired in the North End in St. Paul around 10 pm on Wednesday. After reaching the area, they found the victim at the junction of Rice Street and Manitoba Avenue. The identity of the victim is not clear till now, however, the authorities have said they will release his name after it is verified by the Ramsey County medical examiner’s office.

Paramedics arrived at the scene immediately after and pronounced the victim dead before taking him to a nearby hospital. The police have not arrested anyone over the shooting incident till now.

According to the police, investigating officers are looking into the cause of the shooting incident and suspects related to it. The police have also urged the public to call the homicide unit at 651-266-5650 if they have any knowledge regarding Wednesday night’s shooting.

Killing incidents in St. Paul have been on a steady rise in the ongoing year. Wednesday night’s shooting incident resulted in the 24th killing in the Twin Cities, compared to 22 the previous year.

There have been at least 10 victims of shooting incidents in the last two weeks in St. Paul that have left several dead. These incidents have resulted because of several reasons — from bar fights to domestic violence.

One of these incidents which recently took place, left two dead in a murder-suicide, while there were five children inside the room where the shooting happened. The incident took place on August 17, when St. Paul Police Department officers found 33-year-old Yia Xiong and 30-year-old Ka Lor dead from gunshot wounds inside their apartment on the 2000 block of California Avenue East.
