Philadelphia Eagles‘ Josh Sills went viral on social media, days before his team is prepared to play in the NFL Super Bowl LVII. Although, the reason behind these headlines is not the game but the news of Sills’ indictment in a rape and kidnapping case.

The Eagles have not clarified whether offensive lineman Sills will be playing in the upcoming Super Bowl or not. However, he will be summoned to the court for a hearing on the sexual assault case on February 16.

Rape and kidnapping charges explained

In a recent news, Sills was indicted with one count of rape and one count of kidnapping. Both charges are first-degree felonies. Following the reports, the NFL has put Sills on the Commissioner Exempt List. This means that he will not be allowed to practice play in games or travel with his team.

According to the Guernsey County Sheriff’s documents, the incident happened on December 5, 2019 after Sills gave the victim and her cousin lift late in the night. The women reported that Sills grabbed her as the cousin left.

Afterwards, he kept the woman, 21 at that time, in his car until he “got what he wanted”, as per the woman’s statements. Sills attempted to kiss her first, then grabbed her by the neck throwing her down on the seat. He also attempted to grope her and tried to pull him on top of himself. His sexual assault continued until he got the women engage in oral sex with him. Even after that, he threatened the woman by telling her, “you will talk talk to me again.”

The police has shown proves of the woman’s injuries from the night with photographs. The report shows signs of bruises on the back of her throat, her inner lip, her right ear, and on the back of her left knee.
