New York Senator Chuck Schumer unleashed a scathing attack on President Donald Trump, during his brief speech on the second day of the Democratic National Convention. ‘America, Donald Trump has quit on you,” Schumer said. He was speaking from Brooklyn with the Statue of Liberty in the background.

Highlighting the fact that 170,000 Americans have died from COVID and millions remain jobless, Schumer condemned the ‘it is what it is’ remark of President Trump, referring to Trump’s comments during a recent Axios interview.

“Presidents should never say, it is what it is. President Lincoln, honoring the great sacrifice at Gettysburg, didn’t say, it is what it is. President Roosevelt, seeing a third of the nation ill-nourished didn’t say, it is what it is,” Schumer said.

He said that the US needs a president with dignity, integrity and the experience to lead the country out of the crisis. “That man is my friend Joe Biden. He will be a great president,” Schumer went on.

Schumer also said Joe can’t win ‘the battle for the soul of the nation’ alone. He called for unity in flipping the Senate.

“We will stay united, from Sanders and Warren to Manchin and Warner and with our unity we will bring bold and dramatic change to our country,” Schumer said.
