Texas Governor candidate Allen West, who has not taken COVID vaccine, is taking Hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin after his wife tested positive for the deadly virus. He has also developed symptoms and has suspended in-person events for his Texas gubernatorial campaign.

According to a thread on his Twitter account, the former GOP congressman’s wife Angela West tested positive for COVID on Friday.

“Col. West is experiencing a low grade fever and light body aches. Out of concern for public health, Col. West is suspending in-person events until receiving an all-clear indication,” a tweet said.

Another tweet stated that Allen “is already taking Hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin protocols” and will be available through virtual means to do events.

For those unversed, Ivermectin has been widely dismissed by health experts as a treatment for COVID.

Another tweet stated that Angela West tested positive despite getting vaccinated.

“Dr. Angela West received the vaccine. LTC West did not. LTC West has publicly stated he supports individual choice and this is reflected in his own family,” the tweets read.

On Thursday night, Allen, who previously served as an Army lieutenant colonel, spoke to a packed indoor crowd at a yacht club outside of Texas. In photos shared on social media, not a single person was seen wearing mask.

Allen announced that he will be contesting against Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and said that his opposition to the Green New Deal and his desire to go after finances behind illegal immigration were some of the reasons for running.

He, however, opposed vaccine and mask mandates, saying, “If you’re trying to order people to take a shot that you don’t feel comfortable with, that’s not an ethical order. That’s not a moral order.”

The Texas GOP gubernatorial primary is set to take place in March 2022, and the general election will happen in November 2022.
