Antonio Brown, the former NFL wide receiver and current player for the Albany Empire arena league football team, was asked to leave a city hotel following complaints of loud music and marijuana smoking.

According to a source familiar with the incident, Albany police were called to the Holiday Inn Express on Friday evening after receiving reports of the disturbance. The hotel’s manager and owner have not provided immediate comments on the matter.

Although no charges were filed and Brown was reportedly cooperative with the authorities, a video shared by Brown showed him standing in the hotel parking lot, claiming that he had been kicked out of the Holiday Inn Marriott.

In the video, Brown gestured towards a police officer and mentioned his extended stay of 60 days, highlighting his aspirations as a young Black entrepreneur and owner. He expressed disappointment at being treated as a trespasser after allegedly accepting an offer from the hotel’s owner, Morris Oiring, to accommodate him and the team.

In a longer statement provided by text, Brown described a lack of mutual respect during the incident, citing his friendship with Oiring and their shared commitment to the city and business growth. He claimed to have received no warning or professional conversation before being forced to leave the premises, expressing frustration towards the hotel staff and Albany Police.

While Brown’s associate, Alberony Denis, initially expressed confusion about media outreach regarding the incident, he later mentioned that their attorneys would be contacting the Times Union for alleged misleading and false advertising. However, no specific details were provided to support these claims.

This incident marks another development in the ongoing saga surrounding Brown’s ownership of the Albany Empire. It follows a week of significant changes within the team, including the demotion of a head coach, the hiring of a new coach (the fourth this season), and the firing of a member of Brown’s management team.

The Albany Empire’s players are currently on a bye week, with their next game scheduled against the Orlando Predators. The team’s upcoming home game at MVP Arena is set for Saturday, June 17, against the Jacksonville Sharks. Despite practicing with the team, Brown chose not to play in the most recent home game, adding to the uncertainty surrounding his involvement and impact on the Empire.
