Police responded to shooting reports at Blanchard, Oklahoma Saturday morning, local media reports said. The suspect reportedly opened fire and shot an officer in the leg.

McClain Sheriff said that two people have been found dead after the suspect barricaded himself and a hostage inside a home.

The city of Blanchard is located in Oklahoma’s McClain and Grady counties.

Authorities arrived at the scene of a standoff near Blanchard, Oklahoma, early on Saturday. Around 4 a.m. this morning, police were called about a domestic call.

When police arrived on the scene, the suspect allegedly opened fire and shot one of them in the leg. The McClain Sheriff said that two bodies have been discovered after the suspect and a hostage were trapped inside a house. The vicinity of Highway 76 and Northeast 70th has been closed off by police.

Meanwhile, in the first months of 2023, the plague of mass shootings in the United States has not abated.
