Bob Saget’s family filed a lawsuit against Florida officials on Tuesday to block the release of records related to the actor-comedian’s deaths “in order to protect their privacy”.

According to court documents accessed by USA Today, the lawsuit stated that Saget’s wife Kelly Rizzo, and daughters Aubrey, Jennifer, and Lara Saget would “suffer irreparable harm in the form of extreme mental pain, anguish, and emotional distress” if further information about the late actor’s death were to be “released or disseminated to the public”.

The suit has been filed against Orange County Sheriff John W. Mina and the District Nine Medical Examiner’s Office – who have both investigated Saget’s death.

“In order to protect the Saget family’s privacy, today on their behalf, I filed for an injunction to prevent the disclosure of any photographs or videos of Mr. Saget made by the authorities during their investigation,” Brian Bieber, an attorney representing the family, told Fox News Digital.

“The facts of the investigation should be made public, but these materials should remain private out of respect for the dignity of Mr Saget and his family. It’s very simple — from a human and legal standpoint — the Saget family’s privacy rights outweigh any public interest in disclosure of this sensitive information,” the statement read.

The veteran comedian died on January 9 at Ritz-Carlton Orlando at age 65.

Hotel security had found Bob dead in his room. The actor’s cause of death was not known, however, authorities confirmed that they found no signs of foul play or drug use in this case. The Sheriff’s Department and the fire department reached the hotel around 4 PM ET and rushed him to the hospital where he was officially announced dead.

Saget’s family had released a statement post his death sharing results from the medical examiner’s office – that he had most likely died from ‘an unwitnessed fall’ leading to a ‘blunt head trauma’.

“The authorities have determined that Bob passed from head trauma. They have concluded that he accidentally hit the back of his head on something, thought nothing of it and went to sleep,” Saget’s publicist Michael O’Brian had said in a statement to USA Today.

Saget has been known to play the role of Danny Tanner on the classic American television show ‘Full House’ and his voiceover appearance in Neil Patrick Harris starrer ‘How I Met Your Mother.’ He was also the long-time host of ‘America’s Funniest Home Videos.’
