Kraft Heinz announced a voluntary recall of thousands of cases of Capri Sun juice blend beverages over possible contamination. The recall affects Wild Cherry-flavored varieties with June 25, 2023 “Best When Used By” dates.

The recall was announced after “diluted cleaning solution, which is used on food processing equipment, was inadvertently introduced into a production line at one of our factories,” the brand’s statement said.

“The issue was discovered after we received several consumer complaints about the taste of the affected product. The Company is actively working with retail partners and distributors to remove potentially impacted product from circulation,” the press release confirmed. The exact number of Capri Sun Wild Cherry affected was said to be 5,760.

The cases shipped to retailers include four cartons that are shrink-wrapped together, according to the company. Kraft Heinz urged customers to not consume the products already purchased. It also said that the items can be returned to the store where purchased.

Customers were told to contact Kraft Heinz from 9 AM to 6 PM EST, Monday through Friday, at 1-800-280-8252, to find out if a specific product is part of the recall or to receive reimbursement.

“Kraft Heinz is committed to upholding the highest safety and quality standards,” the company said in the statement.

Kraft Heinz was formed in 2015 after the merger of Kraft Foods and Heinz. Last year, the multinational food company recalled several of its powdered drink products including Arizona Tea, Tang, Country Time and Kool-Aid.

The recall involved select code dates of Country Time Lemonade, Tang, Arizona Tea and limited Kool-Aid powdered beverages with “best when used by” dates between May 10, 2023, and Nov.1, 2023
