Bob Evans Farms Foods has recalled thousands of pounds of Italian pork sausage products from stores in the United States over contamination concerns.

According to the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), bits of thin blue rubber were found in the products.

About 7,560 pounds of raw meat were affected. The products that have been recalled include all one-pound chubs (ground pork in packaging shaped like a large thick sausage).

They are labeled “Bob Evans Italian Sausage” with a lot code XEN3663466 and a “USE/FRZ BY” date of 11/26/22.

The items also have a time stamp between 14:43 and 15:25. These products can be further identified by an establishment number “EST. 6785” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

Customers who have bought Bob Evans pork products were told to check if they have the items under recall. The company urged consumers not to eat the products. They can either throw them away or return them to the place of purchase.

The contamination was found after customers complained to the company that they were finding pieces of blue rubber in the product.

The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) said that no cases of adverse reactions from consumption of this sausage have been found so far. In case anyone has had an injury or illness caused by a contaminated product must contact a healthcare provider.

The FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of any pull back of products. The agency also checks if steps are taken to ensure recalled products are no longer available to consumers.
