Carlos Dominguez was arrested on Thursday for UC Davis stabbings. He was booked into the Yolo County jail.

UC Davis in a statement on Twitter identified the suspect. The university said that he was a student until last month and was let go due to academic reasons.

At least three people were stabbed near the UC Davis campus in the last two weeks. Two of them, identified as a homeless David Breaux and senior Karim Abou Najm, have died. The third one has not been named yet. She is in critical condition.

“The person has been identified as Carlos Dominguez. Dominguez was in his third year at UC Davis until April 25, 2023, when he was separated for academic reasons,” UC Davis said in a statement on Twitter.

Dominguez’s arrest video was circulated on social media.

UC Davis further added that they are ‘partnering with law enforcement to provide access to any and all information as part of the investigation’.

“We are providing support to any students who may have interacted with him. As we learn more and are able to provide updates that do not interfere with the ongoing investigation, we will do so. We urge the community not to rush to conclusions or speculate until all facts are known,” the statement further read.

Two days after Breaux was stabbed, UC Davis senior Karim Abou Najm, 20, who was studying computer science, was killed, according to the university and police. The attacker fled on his bike.

“Karim was a wonder of energy, a free spirit, someone who just wants to see goodness around him,” his father, Majdi Abou Najm, told KXTV.

“I am simply devastated. By all accounts, he was an exceptional student, son and friend,” UC Davis Chancellor Gary May tweeted.

“I know many of you are frightened by what’s happened, especially so quickly after the stabbing incident that occurred on Thursday in Davis’ Central Park.”
