His victims have been identified as a homeless man named David Breaux and UC Davis senior Karim Abou Najm. His third victim, a homeless woman, has not been identified and remains hospitalised in critical condition.

Confirming the arrest, UC Davis tweeted, “UC Davis learned that the city of Davis police, UC Davis police, and the FBI have identified and arrested a suspect in all three stabbing incidents.”

Who was David Breaux?

David Breaux was the first victim who was stabbed to death on April 27. The homeless man was found dead by cops on a park bench at Central Park in Davis. He had multiple puncture wounds on his body.

Breaux was 50 years old and a graduate of Stanford University. He reportedly published a book of anonymously collected writings by members of the community on the subject of compassion.

“I had decided to spend the rest of my life with a pen and notepad and asking people to share their concept of compassion… I will continue doing this, until this can no longer continue,” the City of Davis statement quoted Breaux as saying.

A vigil was held in the park on April 30.

Who was Karim Abou Najm?

Karim Abou Najm was the second victim. The 20-year-old was killed on April 29 at Sycamore Park.

Najm was born in Lebanon. He moved to the United States in 2018 and graduated from Davis Senior High School with high honors. The UC Davis senior was just a week away from graduating with a bachelor’s degree in computer science.

“For his short journey with us, he accomplished a lot. He took pride in helping others from lessons he learned through his studies and work,” the university said in a statement.

A memorial fund named Karim Majdi Abou Najm Memorial Undergraduate Student Research Award has been created for him, the university added.

The third victim –

Carlos Dominguez’s third victim was a 64-year-old homeless woman who was stabbed through her tent at a transient camp just before midnight on May 1. She survived the attack and is currently hospitalised in a critical condition.
