The Atlanta Police confirmed that the suspect in the Colony Square Midtown shooting on Monday afternoon is in custody. As per the authorites, at least three people were shot. One has died and the other two are injured. 

The police responded to shooting reports at 1280 W. Peachtree Street at around 1:45 PM (local time). They found two people suffering from gunshot wounds. The Atlanta Police department later revealed that a total of three people were shot, out of which one has died.

According to the APD, it is unknown what led to the shootings. The survivors of the attack are currently being treated in the hospital.

The mother of a witness described the shooting. She told FOX3 that her daughter was shot at but was able to duck under a table to avoid being hit. She added that her daughter’s boss was wounded.

The witness further said that the injuried were life-threatening. 

The suspect is a Black woman, who was wearing jeans with black and white shirt with horizontal strips. She was located at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and taken into custody without incident, APD tweeted. 

Atlanta police had released the picture of the suspect. They said that the ‘last shot appears to have been fired around 2:15 PM’.

“We are working to determine whether the victims were targeted by the suspect or whether any of the victims were shot randomly,” APD tweeted.

“We are grateful for the assistance of our public safety partners who assisted in this situation. Specifically, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, Fulton County Marshalls Office, MARTA Police, GSU PD, Georgia Tech Police Department, the ATF, AFRD, and Grady EMS,” the Atlanta Police Department added.

The identity of the suspect has not been released yet. APD had asked everyone to stay indoors in the area of Peachtree from 12th to 15th Street.

Colony Square is a mixed-use development, including commercial spaces, business spaces, condos, a mall, a theater, a church, and food court, located along Peachtree Street in between 14th and 15th streets.
