There are reports of shots being fired outside Cross Creek Mall in Fayetteville, North Carolina, as per WRAL’s Aaron Thomas.
“Police say the gunshots hit several cars and the building”, the reporter from the NBC-affiliated local media outlet tweeted.
Others also spoke about the shooting on the social media platform, with one individual saying “stay safe”.
The regional shopping mall is located at 401 Bypass between Morganton Road and the All-American Freeway and has over 150 stores.
Gilbert Baez of WRAL provided a further update that “an altercation started inside the mall”, spilling over into the parking lot. Numerous shots were fired outside, but nobody was shot, though the bullets hit many vehicles and part of the shopping centre. The police took custody of two persons of interest, as per the local news channel reporter.

In 2021, there was another shooting in the parking lot of the Cross Creek mall in Fayetteville. When officers responded after reports of shots being fired, they found a man with life-threatening gunshot injuries. Though emergency medical services transported him to a nearby hospital, he succumbed to the wounds.
Fayetteville Police Department Homicide Unit detectives identified the man as Terrance Mortise-Koger, 32, of the 700 block of Buena Vista Drive in Fayetteville. The cops later arrested 28-year-old Jamal Montrel Dockery in connection with the shooting and he was charged with first-degree murder.

There was another incident in March last year when two men tried to rob a man at gunpoint while he was using an ATM at the Cross Creek Mall. One of the shooters fired at his vehicle before they drove away. As per the police, the man was making a deposit and when he saw the armed individuals, he immediately drove away, which is when the gunman opened fire on the car.
