Heavy rainfall, strong winds and tornado warnings were expected to hit North Texas as the next round of severe storms ran through the region on Thursday. 

The potential tornado warning was in effect for Dallas County as the storm continued to move East, said Arlington police in a Tweet. 

The Dallas County warning was in effect until 5:30 pm, said the National Weather Service. It issued a tornado watch early Thursday afternoon for nearly all of North Texas, including Dallas, Tarrant, Collin and Denton counties.

Airlines at Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) International Airport and Dallas Love Field Airport announced cancellations and delays ahead of Thursday’s storms. The Federal Aviation Administration called a ground stop at both Dallas airports considering thunderstorm warnings. 

As of 4 pm on Thursday, over 300 flights were delayed at DFW Airport and 6% of the flights were canceled. At Love Field, 56 flights were delayed and 7% of its flights were canceled. 

American Airlines to Merida, San Antonio and Alexandria were canceled. British Airways and Alaska Airlines to San Antonio also stood canceled.

American Airlines to Fayetteville, Eagle, San Jose El Cabo, Denver and Albuquerque were delayed. Alaska Airlines to Fayetteville and Tampa were also delayed. 

Almost all of North Texas is under level 3 or higher risk level for severe weather. It means scattered to numerous severe storms are expected in the region.

Major outcomes will be heavy rainfall, winds surpassing 40 mph and the expected one or two tornados, said the National Weather Service.

Passengers scheduled to ride the Trinity Railway Express lines, between Dallas and Fort Worth should expect delays because of the potential tornado warnings, said Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) via a post on Twitter.

The tornado warning over Tarrant County was canceled shortly before 4:45 pm, according to weather service Fort Worth.
