Dana Bash of CNN was trolled on social media for ‘going easy’ on Republican candidate Mike Pence in the CNN Townhall on Wednesday.

Former US Vice President Pence was also criticized on Twitter for his comments on Donald Trump. He was speaking in the town hall at the Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa only hours after officially announcing his bid for the 2024 Republican nomination.

“What’s the point of these town halls if they are just going to let the candidates’ lying go unchecked?” another one added.

“Wow, Dana Bash completely stumped Pence with her point about gun violence here. He had absolutely no response other than filibustering,” a third one tweeted.

Pence was repeatedly asked if he would support Trump if he wins the GOP primaries. The former VP said: “Anyone who puts themselves above the Constitution should never be president in the first place. And anyone who asks anyone else to put themselves over the Constitution should never be president again.”

Mike Pence also spoke about the January 6 Capitol riots. He told Bash that the United States “cannot ever allow what happened on January 6 to happen again in the heart of our democracy.”

“I have no interest or no intention of pardoning those that assaulted police officers or vandalized our Capitol. They need to answer to the law,” he said.
