Fans of former President Donald Trump gathered at Bedminster golf club, New Jersey, hours after he was indicted on 37 charges in Miami courthouse to hear him deliver a speech on Tuesday night.

Trump turned 77 on Wednesday, just a day after he pleaded not guilty to classified documents and obstruction of justice case against him, brought by special counsel Jack Smith. “Nice birthday, isn’t it?” he said sarcastically during his speech at the club, to which his supporters reacted by breaking into a “Happy Birthday to You” song to cheer up the Republican leader.

After the song ended, Trump told the crowd he was sitting with his son Eric and his family when his granddaughter wished him happy birthday. “I said oh, great, I just got charged with, they want 400 years approximately. If you add them all up, a fake 400 years. Though thank you, darling, that’s so nice,” said Trump with a smile.

Prior to the cake and candles being set out for the 77th birthday celebration of the former president on Wednesday, he appeared at a Miami federal courthouse, where he was arrested and entered a historic plea of not guilty to 37 counts.

His alleged illegal storage of sensitive national security material at his Florida Mar-A-Largo club is the basis of the majority of the charges.

As he glared and crossed his arms at the defense table during the brief arraignment hearing on Tuesday before Magistrate Judge Jonathan Goodman in a federal courthouse, Trump didn’t seem to be having much fun.

Some of his most fervent followers sang him a loud rendition of “Happy Birthday” as he entered the courtroom garage in a blacked-out SUV as part of a massive procession.

Later, after the arraignment, he stopped by Miami’s famed Versailles Restaurant in Little Havana, where he was serenaded with “Happy Birthday” while others took photos of the Republican firebrand.

“Some birthday,” Trump added, according to Associated Press video.

The New York Attorney General’s Office filed a lawsuit against the Trump family foundation on Trump’s 72nd birthday in 2018. However, at the time, an attorney general official stated that the filing was a “pure coincidence.”

Following the arraignment, Trump flew back to his Bedminster, New Jersey, gilded club. It’s unknown what birthday celebrations are planned for Wednesday, but the ex-president doesn’t seem to enjoy big birthday parties.
