Donald Trump, the 45th President of the United States, has confidently also proclaimed himself as the 47th while playing a round of golf.

The video, which has done the rounds on social media, shows Trump walking on the first tee at one of his golf clubs. When his playing partner says “Now on the tee, the 45th president of the United States”, Trump quickly shoots back “The 45th and 47th”. 

This response was met with cheers from his playing partners, one of whom exclaimed that he loved that. Trump was also sporting his famous red cap, remembered due to his Make America Great Again (MAGA). It had the number 45 by its side, a tip of the hat to his presidency.

While Trump hasn’t publicly announced his intent to run for office in the 2024 Presidential elections, he has repeatedly teased a second campaign in a bid to make it to the White House again. Further, Trump has been organizing rallies ahead of the 2022 midterm elections. Several polls conducted this month show that Trump has a commanding lead over other Republican candidates who might be party frontrunners for the presidential race.

Despite Trump’s continued popularity, his previous term as president is marred by the January 6 Capitol insurgency, which is being investigated by a Senate committee. The former US president has always maintained that 2020 elections were rigged and has attempted to have them overturned in several states.

Currently, Trump is some hot water as the Atlanta District Attorney has been granted a special grand jury to probe into Trump’s attempt to overturn the Georgia results during the presidential election in 2020. Trump had called Georgia’s Secretary of State, a fellow Republican, to find votes and overturn the election results. At the time, Trump had said, “The people of Georgia are angry, the people of the country are angry. And there’s nothing wrong with saying that, you know, um, that you’ve recalculated”.
