New Jersey Senator Cory Booker on Wednesday lashed at President Donald Trump and said that his “racism is showing.” Booker was responding to a tweet in which Trump suggested that Booker and Biden are pushing policies for low-income housing to “invade” suburban neighborhoods. He also misspelled Cory’s name in the tweet.

In a fitting reply, Booker wrote, “Donaled, your racism is showing.”

Continuing his attack on the Obama era fair housing rules, Trump said that Biden would restore the rules in a bigger form with ‘Corey Booker’ in charge. “The ‘suburban housewife’ will be voting for me,” he added. Though Biden had pledged to reimplement the Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH) rule, Booker has not expressed interest in the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) post.

The AFFH rule repealed by the HUD in July is a legal requirement that federal agencies and federal grantees actively address and work to eliminate housing discrimination and segregation.

Though HUD explained that the rule was taken back to protect the autonomy of local governments to stamp out racial discrimination, Trump has pitched it as a way to keep low-income Americans, who he claims ‘commit crimes’ out of wealthy neighborhoods.
