A man was seen surfing on a water-logged street in Florida even as the state braces itself for Hurricane Ian which is expected to make landfall on the state’s coast in less than 24 hours.

The Panhandle State’s quintessential Florida Man is back at it again even as Hurricane Ian moves through the Gulf of Mexico where it is reportedly expected to reach wind speeds of up to 155 miles per hour.

There’s been a lull in his appearance over the past few hours, which is saying a lot. Of course, appearances from Florida Man are rarely reason for celebration, given his propensity for acting out in the most outlandish ways possible. But not this time.

Yes, you read that right. This is a Florida Man that is not attacking police officers while high on meth or being arrested for trying to steal traffic lights.

Instead, he’s being really chill. In the video below, a man has hitched a cord to the back of a pickup truck as it pulls him through a water-logged street even as the rain pours down. The waterlogged streets and the miniature waves caused by the truck combined make for an excellent surfing opportunity, as the Florida Man demonstrates.

In more serious news, Hurricane Ian has strengthened from a Category 3 storm to a Category 4 storm and is on the verge of becoming a historic Category 5 storm.

Ian has reached wind speeds of 155 miles per hour. The moment it hits 157 mph, it will be classified as a Category 5 and is expected to make landfall on Wednesday afternoon. A storm surge of about 12 to 16 feet is expected from Englewood to Bonita Beach on the west coast of Florida, according to an advisory from the National Weather Service.
