A passenger on board a Frontier Airlines flight from Philadelphia to Miami was duct-taped to seat and later handed over to police for allegedly assaulting a male flight attendant and groping two female attendants during the flight on July 31.

A video obtained by South Florida news outlet WPLG showed the passenger, identified as 22-year-old Maxwell Berry from Ohio, yelling profanities while sitting in his seat. He then goes on assault a male flight attendant following which he is taped down by a another crew member. Berry, who remained duct-taped for the remainder of the flight, was handed over to the police upon arrival at the Miami airport.  He was taken into custody on three counts of battery.

The arrest report states that the passenger had two drinks while on the flight and ordered another drink. He allegedly spilled the drink on himself following which he went to the lavatory to change. He emerged shirtless and wandered the aisles for  close to15 minutes before allegedly molesting the two female crew members.

Passenger Alfredo Rivera, who captured the altercation, said, “He was starting to get aggressive and basically attacked the male flight attendant.”

In a statement, Frontier Airlines said, “During a flight from Philadelphia to Miami on July 31, a passenger made inappropriate physical contact with a flight attendant and subsequently physically assaulted another flight attendant.”

“As a result, the passenger needed to be restrained until the flight landed in Miami and law enforcement arrived. The flight attendants will be, as required in such circumstances, relieved of flying pending completion of investigation of the events,” the statement said. 

The passenger was booked into Miami-Dade County Jail – TGK Correctional Center.

Last month, a passenger onboard an American Airlines flight from Dallas-Fort Worth to Charlotte was duct-taped to her seat after she tried to open an exit door mid-air then bit a flight attendant.
